It is very important that you feel there is a place for you in this world, that you personally lend your own contribution to the structure of society as we know it. Without this, you would feel redundant, as if you were not a part of any greater design, but assigned instead to a fate of insignificance. Therefore, you are very busy about involving yourself in projects, and are not likely to remain idle for any length of time. Indeed, you are constantly active, as to be the opposite would imply that you are not personally important any more. The whole point, as
you see it, is that as there seems to be some kind of inspired structure to the world at large, that same structure must exist within you: therefore you as an individual must reflect the world, and it you. It’s the old “macrocosm-microcosm” argument – you are the universe in miniature. What could be more simple!

You have a nagging dread that you’re never going to quite find that security you so desperately strive for. It seems as if it forever eludes you, just when you think you’ve found it. However, this is really more of an habitual fear rather than the real state of affairs; it is the fear of not having security, in fact, which makes you pursue it so relentlessly. By security is not only meant a sound financial base but, similarly, a steady emotional influence, also. You will therefore not take too kindly to anything which prevents you from putting down roots and building up a solid foundation from which all this security can grow. Because it is so important to you, you are prepared, if need be, to put aside a major proportion of your life in order to attain it.

Unlike many others, you can, should the situation arise, adapt to the demands of physically having to change your environment on a fairly regular basis. In other words, the life of a Gypsy should not necessarily be something at which throw up your hands in horror. This is because, instead of viewing permanent movement as being detrimental to your personal development, you are inclined to see it as a necessary lesson in the school of life: that is, a character building experience. Indeed, if given the choice of staying in one place or moving around, both of which would yield exactly the same benefits, you are likely to choose the latter. All this travelling invariably provides food for the mind; therefore, you use your experience to build up a thought system through which, via observation and comparison, you will arrive at a pretty fair estimation of your own limitations and potentials.

In many ways you live through your ancestors – or is that they live through you? Whichever way round it is, there is an especial relationship between yourself and the past, particularly those elements which have a bearing on your own religious or racial complexion. This in turn makes you bound to your family and, in many ways, it is they who form the centre around which your life pivots. You don’t like to see too many changes in this sphere: departures and marriagesupset you. On the other hand, you’re thrilled by births, for they further extend all that’s familiar and meaningful to you. You are, indeed, a fully paid up member of the clan!

When it comes to emotions you have two attitudes, these stem from two fears; a fear of not being able to express the way you feel and the fear of being completely overwhelmed by emotion to the point where you may not be in control of your actions. As they say in Buddhism, the answer lies in the middle way, by taking the path that is central from both of the two extremes.

You have a fear of not being recognized for being the person you are. This can make you flaunt your differences so that others get the message straight away – or at least the message you’d like them to get! Individuality is very important to you, not only your own, but others’ also. You like to surround yourself with those who stand out from the crowd, either in terms of personal achievement, or just in their appearance. Personal achievement, in fact, is something for which you hold a lot of admiration, for you see it as a sign that those concerned have extricated themselves from the common mould – that they have in some sense given birth to themselves. This can have a negative effect, also, for it can cause you to overlook what is sometimes only surface deep: there are many who only look the part, and are certainly not all they seem.

Saturn is the difficult planet in astrology, it represents our fears and our wisdom. The wisdom comes from the enforcement of dealing with the fears. The sign it is in shows the theme of the fear and where ultimately the wisdom will show. Leo is the sign ruled by the Sun. It represents the creative spirit of man. Through creative expression comes recognition – basking in the light of the Sun – The Sun shines out through what you creatively express. Too much recognition and you’ll wish you’d kept in the background; too little and you’ll feel like you’ve nothing to offer the world or that no-one gives you the recognition you deserve. This principle works in various and subtle ways;
only you can work it out.

Life often seems unnecessarily complicated to you. Things which others achieve easily elude you, and for no discernible reason. The straightforward path, as far as you’re concerned, is pretty much a myth. What to do? If achievement is the measure of those who seek it, does failing to attain your goals mean you lack something? Far from it! And, anyway, only some things elude you, not all. What’s really under the microscope here is the question of order: order produces clarity, and clarity allows vision. Clarity and order on an inner level – how you think and feel privately -will bring goals and achievement together, for they’ll illuminate the correct path to follow. In other words, imposing a structure on your inner life will lessen the complications in your outer one. Get it?!

Things have a way of happening easily for you. Goals and opportunities which may elude others often come to you overnight. This is both good and bad. The good is that you’re saved unnecessary hardship and suffering in the pursuit of objects which often, in fact, are yours by right. The bad – or perhaps it’s more appropriate to say ‘negative’ – side of things is that, because of the facility with which you achieve your ends, a certain complacency can set in and, with it, a lack of awareness of what it’s like to be on the outside looking in. This does not reflect how you really are for, if truth be known, equality of opportunity is something you’d like to see for all. Still, never forget what it’s like to be hungry! Tables can be turned in the blink of an eye. History’s full of it: France 1789, Beijing 1989. . .

In relationships you strive to find order and harmony that perfect balance between two people that will allow perfect love to blossom. This need for balance stems from two unconscious fears, the fear of not being in a relationship at all and the fear of being overwhelmed by another person. The lesson to be learned is that it is you that is in control of any relationship that you have. Those unconscious fears only affect you when you forget this.

Everybody needs to climb the ladder of success in some way or another, for the desire to make of one’s life something different and unique is a fairly strong motivation in most of us. There are a multitude of ways of going about this, but your chosen way is to follow your emotions and, whatever strikes that inner chord, becomes your life’s vocation. It doesn’t matter how deviant or unconventional that vocation might be; what matters is that
it actually means something to you personally, that you are not following an abstract plan devised by someone else for other people. Once you’ve found this route you apply yourself with dedication and steadfastness. You can even verge on ruthlessness should you think others are threatening your future, and you will strike before others strike you, just to ensure that the way forward remains permanently clear. At times you can become quite obsessive about control and power and are always on the lookout for potential infringement of your own personal power. Nothing wrong with that providing your manipulative side is only used in a positive manner to help others or to ensure that your own life runs fairly and smoothly… However, there is always the risk of going over the top and imagining that the motives of other people are more sinister than they really are…

You find it very difficult at times to tether yourself to a mooring when all you want is to float on the open sea – one of your cherished ideals is freedom. Freedom, however, should not be confused with irresponsibility; this is something you have to learn! (Well, we all have our little faults, don’t we?) If truth be known, you don’t always like facing up to the demands imposed by certain situations, and the people involved in them. This does not mean you’re superficial. On the contrary. It’s not your capacity, or willingness, to experience depth which is the question here: rather your willingness to choose responsibil ity over freedom. But, don’t you know, within responsibility there is freedom. Being responsible implies leadership, and this in turn suggests vision – at least the vision to guide those who are following. The vision of leadership therefore liberates you from a condition of dependency.

You have an admirable amount of self-control and discipline; indeed, others often envy you for your ability to stay on the straight and narrow path. It matters not whether that path has been predetermined by you or whether you’ve been guided onto it by others. It’s your capacity to adhere to a system which carries the weight in the end. Living by systems is second nature to you, for they allow you to move through life by a proven method. You need structure and organization in your existence and, if the way to these lies along conventionally-beaten paths, so be it. They get the results you want.

Saturn in Aquarius

One of your greatest fears is not belonging, of being on the outside looking in. You very much need to be a part of the general movement of humankind: exclusion from this would distress you. Therefore, you adapt to society’s systems and structures readily, for they provide easy access to membership of society’s ‘club’  your security. This is not to say that you’re exclusively a dyed-in-the-wool conformist who has no capacity, let alone desire, for individual expression. On the contrary. But, what it does mean, is that a sense of belonging will override everything else in the pursuit of your own personal direction. Logically, you’d be unhappy if you didn’t belong, and this would scupper your plans.

You’re a wanderer. You roam freely through life’s landscape, absorbing this detail, absorbing that, and then knitting these together to make a coherent pattern. You take the ebb with the flow. This does not mean you’re a wishy-washy observer of others’ activities. Quite the contrary. What it does mean, though, is that where for others discipline and conformity prevail, you’re instead a pragmatist. You explore the whole house, rather than continually enter rooms by the same door and from the same direction. Sometimes, however, you can be a bit too exploratory, and it is then that you do need to impose some kind of control. You can do this, of course – but you’d rather not!
